Congratulations Ino Mouscardy!

The League would like to congratulate Ino Mouscardy on being this year’s winners of the Mark E. Lewis Youth Scholarship. Ino has received a $10,000 tuition donation from the league for their efforts in raising awareness of and advocating for greater understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community in their respective schools. This Fall, Ino will be attending Simmons College where they hope to pursue studies in Neuroscience and Psychology. Congratulations Ino  and good luck this Fall!

In addition to playing Varsity Soccer and Softball, Ino was also heavily involved in other extracurricular activities in their school including: the Gay/Student Alliance (GSA), Student Council, K-Pop Club and the Anime Club.

Through their work in the GSA, Ino helped to create lesson plans for the wider school population that identified harmful beliefs, hurtful phrases and jokes that have been normalized and explained why they're damaging. They also helped staff and peers by describing ways to spot discrimination from oneself and others, and gave information about prominent LGBTQIA that were suggested to be included in the curriculum.

Ino worked with the school's restorative justice system to revise the school's Incident Report Form, making it more accessible and specific. Ino's efforts helped to implement new incident categories and an anonymous submission options to make submission easier. In addition, they helped make the reports available via the school bookmarks on every school-provided Chromebook and posted QR codes throughout the campus.

Ino changed their name and pronouns last year and has acted as a mentor to the younger athletes on their sports teams that are questioning their identity.

Please join us in congratulating Ino as this year’s Marc E. Lewis scholarship winner. The entire league, and our sponsors are so proud of you and excited  to welcome you into our extended FLAG Flag Football family.
